Textile Design- UAL

In June of 2026 I took a 3 week textile design course at the University of Arts, London. There I learned how to screen print on fabric. Aligned with my interest in the kitschy arts and crafts of the 1960s and 70s, I made hog cloth kits. I was inspired by vintage cloth kits I've come across while thrifting. Cloth kits are pieces of fabric printed with a design, typically for a pillow or garment, and instructions for how to cut and assemble the item.

Plain samples of the two screens I designed. The first is the hog outline, the second I blocked off and arranged in different ways to create different patterns.

After this course, a goal of mine as a textile artist is to further explore screen printing and develop my own home set-up to continue making cloth kits and eventually use the method in clothing design.
